Support To Setup Remote Desktop In Windows XP

Microsoft’s Windows XP operating system is well equipped with a Remote Desktop feature, which allows users to access the systems all the way across the internet. This is a pretty useful feature to business individuals, for viewing the files and data on their Office system from the Home computer, for example. Besides, you can also avail the services of the Microsoft Support center using Remote Access, while attempting to resolve Windows XP Problems.

How to configure Remote Desktop on the Host system?

First of all, turn on the Windows XP computer and then login to the administrative account.

  • Go to the Windows Start button, and from the popped-up Start menu, access the option marked Control Panel, to view the Control Panel Home Window.
  • Now you need to access the option that reads Performance and Maintenances.
  • Now from the newly displayed widow, select the System tab, followed by hitting the Remote tab.
  • Now place a tick mark in the field corresponding to the following option: Allow users to connect remotely to this computer. When finished, click OK to save the settings.

Enable Remote Desktop feature

  • Go back to the Control Panel Home Window, and choose the option marked Security Center from it.
  • Now click on the Windows firewall tab, to view the firewall settings of your system. If the firewall is already turned on, uncheck the box next to the Don't Allow Exceptions option.
  • Now click Exception tab, and place a check mark in the field corresponding to Remote Desktop.

Actions to be performed on the Remote System

  • Click on the Start button that appears on the left-hand side of the Windows taskbar, and from the popped-up start menu, choose the option marked Programs.
  • Now you will be able to see the list of entire programs that you are having with your system. Now locate the Accessories folder in the generated list, and select Communications.
  • Now click on the Remote Desktop Connections tab. Here you have to provide the name of the host system. When done, access the Connect tab.
  • Log on to windows by providing the host system’s user name and password in the boxes provided. Now the remote system has access to the host system’s files.

Even after enabling the Remote Assistance feature, if you still encounter errors while you try to access the host systems’ file, it’s best to contact the Microsoft Support center.
